Now let me tell you a story that’s near and dear to my heart—my very own story of how being a working mum changed my life. They say being a working mum will just give you more over your already full plate. But personally, I love the challenge. I love how I am still able to provide for my family. I love that I am financially independent and still be able to be there for my children.
When I gave birth to my first baby, I thought that being a parent will be easy. I have a supportive family and though we’re not ‘rich’, we manage to get by. But as my child grows up, I can see clearer that ‘being able to get by’ is not enough. And of course, as every parent would dream, we want only the best for our kids. ‘Getting by’ would simply not work.
And then I got pregnant with my second child. From there, I stood firm and told myself—“I have to do something”. Being natural born entrepreneur that I am, I know exactly what I want to do. I want to have my own business.
Having your own home business provides flexibility and a heap load of benefits. Work at home moms have similar perks to stay at home mums. You can be attending pre-school holiday parties or pick up your sick child from school and still make it back home for a client call. The best part is you can save money instead of getting your kid into daycare, you can look over them.
When I was still working at a local office, I can see my workmates worried on how they can pay childcare on top of other home expenses that they have. It is not economical. And most especially, it’s not helping in your child’s development. You see your kids grow up without you by their side. You miss out a lot of their milestone because you’re too busy working.
This is exactly what I don’t want to happen. So when I launched Create Australia, this was the initial goal I have in mind. I want to help mothers like me to have their own business, be financially stable, and still be the best mum they can be. For many women, this is the dream! They get to devote time with their families while also progressing in their entrepreneurial careers and contributing monetarily to their families.
